Writing possible parliamentary questions (PPQs)

DESCRIPTION

Government departments prepare PPQs for their ministers to use during question time in parliament. It is vital that these documents are timely (a late PPQ is useless) and accurate.

This workshop develops your skills in planning, writing, editing and proofreading PPQs. Participants will have the opportunity to draft a PPQ related to their own area of work during the workshop.

This workshop is designed for all staff and managers who are involved in the PPQ process and who would like to further develop their skills in this critical area.

OUTCOMES

At the end of this workshop, you will return to your workplace with:

  • a greater knowledge of the parliamentary question time process

  • the knowledge to plan the key elements of a PPQ

  • a specific template to use when preparing a PPQ

  • the skills to define the key talking points in a PPQ

  • the ability to prepare a PPQ in a timely and effective manner.
